We seem to have lost one of the chicks. At least this one is doing well and is starting to get feathers.

New year new life!

Well hard to believe when looking out our kitchen window at Blue Heron sitting placidly in our canal berth, that not far away are scenes of kaos and destruction caused by mother nature.

The past couple of weeks have been unreal with heavy rain followed by severe floods, flash floods and rivers breaking banks across Brisbane and Queensland. Like most we have been watching it on tv.

In amidst of this a pair of Magpielarks have nested under Blue Heron's radar dish. We have been watching them take turns on the nest over Christmas. One will call to the other to tell him or her to move then swoop down while the other flys off to find food. They are known for the duet type singing. It is quite distinctive.

Finally the waiting has paid off and we have babies! Here they are- our latest visitors on board.
